'My hair was the be-all, end-all of my life', says Sonali Bendre on her battle with cancer and how she emerged stronger

Sonali Bendre has been an inspiration to many with her smile and positive attitude while battling cancer. One of the striking moments from her journey with the disease has been how happily she has showed her bald head after losing hair post chemotherapy sessions. The actress now shares that despite her hair being the ‘be-all, end-all' of her life previously, she doesn’t miss it anymore and that social media helped her shed her inhibitions of the same.

In a recent interview with a fashion magazine, the 44-year-old stated that she is ‘okay’ about losing her hair and that she doesn’t even miss it anymore. Sonali reveals looking back, she feels though it was the 'be-all, end-all' of her life once, she calls it a ‘stupid thing' that she was hanging on.

Like anyone who’d suddenly lose hair, the actress shared her instinct was to wear a cap, a scarf or a wig, but she thought they were ‘ugly’. The ‘Sarfarosh’ star shared that the only way she could accept the fact that she was going bald was by putting a picture of her post-chemotherapy period. The first post helped Sonali immensely as she felt it was an important release that got rid of her inhibitions and gave her confidence.

Sonali, who was diagnosed with high-grade metastatic cancer, had announced it in July before heading to USA for treatment. While she had sported a wig in her first social media post after the diagnosis, a few days later she had shown how 'bald is beautiful' in a snap with close friends Sussanne Khan and ‘Swades’ actress Gayatri Joshi.
