Orry aka Orhan Awatramani, 7 Others Booked By Jammu-Kashmir Police For Consuming Alcohol At Mata Vaishno Devi

Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry and seven others have been booked by Jammu and Kashmir Police for consuming alcohol at a hotel in Katra, the base camp of the revered Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. Among 8 booked by J&K Police is Russian national Anastasila Arzamaskina who came to Katra along with Orry and his friends.

FIR against Orry and his friends

An FIR (No. 72/25) has been lodged at Katra Police Station against Orhan Awatramani (Orry), Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Ritick Singh, Rashi Dutta, Rakshita Bhogal, Shagun Kohli, and Anastasila Arzamaskina for violating the District Magistrate’s (DM) order and hurting religious sentiments. They have been booked under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Reasi Police said that they were found consuming alcohol inside their hotel premises despite strict prohibitions on alcohol and non-vegetarian food in the Cottage Suite area of Katra. Upon receiving a complaint, SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh (JKPS) directed strict action against the offenders, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for any act that disturbs the sanctity of religious places.

"A special team, under the supervision of SP Katra, DySP Katra, and SHO Katra, was formed to investigate the matter. Notices will be sent to all accused individuals, including ORRY, instructing them to join the probe. SSP Reasi has reiterated that anyone violating the law, especially by indulging in activities like alcohol or drug consumption at religious sites, will be dealt with strictly," Reasi Police said.

Reasi SSP Paramvir Singh told ANI, “Katra is a holy town and according to a notification by the sub-divisional magistrate, alcohol consumption and sale is prohibited in the town... Taking cognizance of this notification, we have registered a complaint and started an investigation... Our policy is clear that such prohibited actions are subjected to strict action, no matter who does this... The investigation is underway and notices will be issued as per the laws to those responsible and they will be summoned for cooperation...”

Leader of Opposition in J&K strongly condemns the incident

Leader of Opposition in Jammu and Kashmir, Sunil Sharma, has strongly condemned the incident, stating it is unfortunate that religious sentiments have been hurt by a Bollywood figure. He added that such an act should never have taken place at Mata Vaishno Devi, a sacred pilgrimage site that is an epitome of faith for millions. Sharma welcomed the police action, noting that an FIR has been registered, and called for strict action against all involved. He further added that the consumption of alcohol and non-vegetarian food at such a revered place is completely unacceptable and must not be tolerated.

Orry is known to be best friends of many young celebs, including Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Khushi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan.
