Interestingly, before casting Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra as Kabir and Ayesha Mehra, Zoya Akhtar had initially approached real-life siblings Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan for these roles. According to media reports, Ranbir had to decline due to scheduling conflicts, which led to Kareena also withdrawing from the project, as her primary interest was to act alongside her cousin.

This information was corroborated by Anil Kapoor, who mentioned in a promotional video for Animal's OTT release on Netflix India that Ranbir Kapoor was originally part of Dil Dhadakne Do. He told Ranbir, "When I said yes to Dil Dhadakne Do, you were doing it." Anil Kapoor played Ranbir Kapoor's father in the 2023 crime drama Animal.

Was Hrithik going to be a part of Dil Dhadakne Do?

Initially, Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif were set to portray the love interests of Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. These roles were eventually played by Farhan Akhtar and Anushka Sharma, who took on the characters of Sunny Gill and Farah Ali, respectively.
