Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt's latest directorial Tumko Meri Kasam, which features actors Anupam Kher, Ishwak Singh, Adah Sharma and Esha Deol in key roles, released on the big screens on March 21. The film is loosely inspired by the life of Dr Ajay Murdia, the founder of Indira IVF, a nationwide chain of fertility clinics.
The trailer suggests that Adah (Indira Murdia) and Ishwak (Ajay Murdia) play a married couple who are unable to conceive and are faced with societal taboos. They set up a chain of fertility clinics to help couples become parents. Ajay was also called the 'IVF Man Of India'. However, an alleged murder charge against him over professional rivalry seems to cast doubt over his legacy in the medical field, while he struggles to retain the ownership of his company with the help of a lawyer (played by Esha Deol). Vikram shared with Republic that some elements of the film are there to add "masala" to the story and while some aspects of the movie are inspired by Murdia's life, others are fictionalised.
Tumko Meri Kasam hits the big screens when no major Bollywood title has been released. Old movies John Abraham's The Diplomat and Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava are expected to be its competition at the ticket window. When asked about the box office expectations from his latest venture, Bhatt revealed the budget of Tumko Meri Kasam, further sharing that the production cost was "not that expensive" and the recovery has been made already with the sale of music, TV and OTT rights.
"So the film is not that expensive. It's a Rs 12 crore. Okay. So we have with the music, satellite, and digital and all, we are already home. Pretty safe," the Raaz and 1920 director shared.
