AR Rahman's Wife Saira Clarifies They Are Not Divorced, Requests Not To Be Called 'Ex-wife' Amid Composer's Health Scare
AR Rahman's estranged wife Saira Banu shared an audio message requesting to not be addressed as the composer's 'ex-wife' as they are only separated.

On March 16 AR Rahman was rushed to a hospital in Chennai following complaints of chest pains. The Oscar and Grammy-winning music composer was discharged hours later after a routine check-up. Amid this, his estranged wife Saira Banu released an audio message wishing him the best of health and clarifying that she and the composer are not divorced, only separated.
AR Rahman's wife clarifies the couple is only separated
On Sunday, Saira shared a voice note updating everyone on her husband's health and giving clarity on their relationship. She started her statement with a ‘Salam’ during the Holy month of Ramza. She said, “Assalamualaikum. I wish him a speedy recovery and I got the news that he had chest pain and he had angiography, and by the grace of Allah he is fine now, he has nothing”.

Saira further mentioned, “I want to tell all of you that we are not officially divorced, we are still husband and wife, it's just that we are separated because I was not feeling well for the last two years and I didn't want to stress him too much but please don't say ‘ex-wife’. It's just that we are separated but my prayers are always with him and I want to say one thing to everyone, especially his family, that please don't stress him too much, and take care of him. Thank you, Allah Hafiz”. For the unversed, on November 19, AR Rahman took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share the news of their separation.

Why was AR Rahman hospitalised?
Rahman was admitted to a hospital in Chennai on Saturday night after complaints of chest pains. However, doctors confirmed that his symptoms fit ‘dehydration’. The Oscar-winning music director returned from London last night when he felt unwell and went for a check-up. A medical bulletin by Dr R.K. Venkatasalam, Director of Medical Services, said, "AR Rahman, visited Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road this morning with dehydration symptoms and got discharged after a routine check-up." AR Rahman's sister and son have also assured his fans that he has been discharged and is keeping well.
