Laapataa Ladies has become one of the most talked about movies of the year. The film is directed by Kiran Rao and the movie’s story as well as the character’s performance have been earning praise. The chemistry of the lead pair Sparsh Srivastava and Pratibha Ranta (who play Deepak Jaya respectively) has ignited dating rumours.

After the success of Laapataa Ladies, rumours of Sparsh and Pratibha dating surfaced online. The actors’ chemistry on the show was appreciated by critics and audiences alike and they were rumoured to be dating. In a new video, the actors clear the air on the same. 

Recently, the actor hosted an Ask Me Anything session with their fans on Instagram. A fan asked the duo if they were dating. To this, the actress immediately responded, “Are we? Of course not.” To this, Sparsh added, “Yaar, ek ladka aur ladki sirf dost bhi ho sakte hain (a guy and a girl can just be friends).” They also tried to make a heart using their hands, but failed.

Produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Jio Studios, the movie stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan, and Chhaya Kadam in pivotal roles. Set in 2001 somewhere in rural India, Laapataa Ladies is about two young brides who get lost on a train and the pursuit of people who find themselves in a series of confusion on the go. The plot is inspired by Biplab Goswami's story Two Brides.

The film has been selected to be the opening film of The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) Summer Festival. Calling it a "great honour," Kiran Rao at one of the promotional events expressed her excitement.
