At the Los Angeles premiere of her latest film Atlas, Jennifer Lopez addressed concerns about the rise of Artificial Intelligence and its impact, particularly on celebrities. Atlas, directed by Brad Peyton, features Jennifer Lopez in the lead role as a data analyst who must rely on AI to save Earth from a malevolent robot, portrayed by Simu Liu.
When asked about her views on AI, Jennifer Lopez stated, “I think this movie does a good job of showing how AI could go incredibly wrong, and this is how it could go really right.”
Drawing from her personal experience, Lopez mentioned seeing advertisements for skincare products she’s not affiliated with, using altered images of her face showing "wrinkles." She expressed her alarm, saying, “It’s really scary. Right away we had them stealing our faces. So, yes, [AI] is really scary.”
Jennifer Lopez emphasised the importance of treating AI with caution and respect, adding, “We have to be open to all possibilities. These movies that are talking about AI — especially this one — do a really good job of showing both sides.”
Co-star Sterling K. Brown, who plays a military officer fighting alongside Atlas, praised Lopez's dedication and work ethic. Reflecting on their time working together, he said, “Moguls be moguling. She was talking earlier today about how she has brought down her level of commitment. I would have marveled to see her at full tilt because it looked like it was full tilt when we were together. There was always something happening.” Atlas, starring Jennifer Lopez, is currently streaming on Netflix.
