Munawar Faruqui Arrives In Mumbai Over Death Threat In Delhi, Probe Underway
Comedian Munawar Faruqui was in Delhi as he's the captain of a cricket team, Mumbai Disruptors, in the Indian Street Premiere League (ISPL) 2024.
After Elvish Yadav, Munawar Faruqui receives death threats. On Monday, during the Indian Street Premiere League (ISPL) 2024, the Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner reportedly received death threats for playing against Munawar. Elvish-led team Haryanvi Hunters clashed against Munawar-led team Mumbai Disruptors at the IG Indoor Stadium in Delhi. The death threat left the officials in a frenzy. Following the threat, officials asked the spectators to leave the stadium. Now, officials have learned Munawar's life is online.

According to media reports, Delhi police got a hint about the potential threat on Saturday when they were interrogating the suspects of another case in Delgi. The suspects revealed that they were instructed to observe the hotel where the comedian was staying for a targeted murder. Soon after, a Delhi police team conducted a search operation at the IGI indoor stadium and Munawar's room. Following this he was sent to Mumbai for his safety.
“We were merely instructed to enhance security at the stadium where a match between two teams named Haryanvi Hunters and Mumbai Disruptors was scheduled to take place,” a police officer informed.
Munawar Faruqui controversy
Comedian and rapper Munawar often finds his name embroiled in controversy. Lately, he made a derogatory joke about Konkanis on his stand-up comedy show. After receiving flak, the comedian shared a video apologising for his mistake. He said, "I noticed that people are getting hurt over my clip and as a comedian, I do not want to hurt anyone. Maine jispe joke kiya tha wo logon ne bhi bahut enjoy kiya tha show. Show pe bhi sab log they, Marathi log they, Muslim log the, Hindu log the (The people I made the joke about enjoyed the show a lot. There were people from all backgrounds at the show - Marathis, Muslims and Hindus). When we see such things on the Internet, we notice it. We understand the issue. I want to apologise and say sorry to all. Jai Hind, Jai Maharashtra ."
In 2021, Munawar was arrested for cracking a joke on Hindu deities. Later, he was let out on bail.
