Ratan Tata No More: Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh Lead Condolences For 'India's Most Valuable Man'

Ajay Devgn, Randeep Hooda, Riteish Deshmukh and other celebs mourned the death of Ratan Tata. Recalled him as 'India's most valuable man' for his legacy.

Ratan Tata, veteran industrialist and Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus, died on late Wednesday night, October 9, in Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, per news agency PTI. He was 86. Soon after the news broke out an outpouring of grief pouring in from all corners, including Indian cinema. Ajay Devgn , Randeep Hooda and other celebs penned heartfelt tributes to "India's most valuable" man.

Celebs pay tribute to Ratan Tata

Ajay Devgn took to his X handle and wrote, “The world mourns the loss of a visionary. Ratan Tata's legacy will forever inspire generations. His contributions to India and beyond are immeasurable. We are deeply grateful. Rest in peace, Sir.”

Randeep Hooda , on the other hand, described Ratan Tata as “India’s most valuable man, not necessarily for his vast wealth, but for his values". He added, “Largest being Integrity !! Never a show off but always the star The life #RatanTata ji led will  always be an inspiration.”

Rana Daggubati wrote on X, “The Icon of leadership, philanthropy, and ethics!! His legacy will continue to inspire generations. India has lost a giant today.”

“Ratan Tata will remain even in the afterlife as one of the finest citizens in modern India," wrote Boman Irani.

Riteish Deshmukh wrote, “Deeply saddened to know that Shri #RatanTata ji is no more. Condolences to the family and loved ones. Rest In Glory Sir.”

Who was Ratan Tata?

A recipient of Padma Vibhushan, he breathed his last at south Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital at 11.30 pm, a top police official told PTI. He was admitted to the hospital for the past few days.

In a statement, Tata's family said,"We his brothers, sisters, and family take solace and comfort in the outpouring of love and respect from all who admired him. While he is no longer with us in person, his legacy of humility, generosity and purpose will continue to inspire future generations." In a statement, Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran said, "It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi , in a post on social media platform X, condoled the death of Tata saying he was "extremely pained by his passing away".

He served as chairman of the Tata Group from 1990 to 2012, and interim chairman from October 2016 through February 2017. He continued to lead its charitable trusts until his death. Ratan Tata was the son of Naval Tata, who was adopted by Ratanji Tata, son of Jamsetji Tata, was the founder of the Tata Group.
