Sonu Nigam Reveals Vape Thrown On Stage During DTU's Engifest, Injures His Team Member Subhankar: It Hit His Chest

Sonu Nigam made headlines after reports suggested that stones and bottles were hurled at the veteran singer during his performance at  Delhi Technological University’s (DTU) Engifest 2025. Soon after, the news spread like a wildfire, with fans criticising the students for disrespecting the legendary singer. Late Tuesday, the  51-year-old singer took to his social media handle and rubbished the reports.

Sonu Nigam reacts to reports of stones thrown at him during a performance at DTU

Taking to his Instagram, Sonu Nigam shared a photo that shows him wearing a fan's hairband and, in the caption, informed that only a vape was thrown on the stage that hit Shubhankar's chest. Due to this, he paused his show and reminded the audience that he would stop his performance if something like this happened again. He denied that stones or bottles were hurled at him during the fest. He further mentioned the 'pookie' moment. He said that only thing hurled on the stage of a Pookie band which he doned through out his performance.

"Nothing like hurling of stones or bottles as mentioned in some media happened at DTU. There was one Vape thrown by someone on stage that hit Subhankar's chest and that's when I was informed about it. I paused the show and requested and reminded the collegians that the show will have to be abruptly stopped if something like that happened again. The only thing hurled on stage after that, was the Pookie band. Which was really Pookie..." the caption reads.

Fans thank Sonu Nigam for clarification

Soon after the singer shared the post, his fans flooded the comment section. A user wrote, "Thank you for the clarification of the pookie headband. It suits you very much and we look forward to seeing you wear it more often!" Jaan Kumar wrote, "Pookie Legend." Another fan wrote, "Thankyou for clearing it @sonunigamofficial pta nhi yeh media wale kya dikhate rhte hai and this pookie band suits you. You are really a pookie." A third user wrote, "Thank you for this.... Was worried ."

Several videos went viral on the internet, showing Sonu Nigam addressing the audience by asking them to maintain decorum. "Main aapke liye aaya hun yahan pe so that we can all have a good time. I’m not asking you to not enjoy, but please aisa na kariye.” He added that members of his team were getting hurt in the process. The singer maintained his calm nature despite the chaotic situation.

Sonu Nigam is a well-known singer who has given many soulful tracks to Bollywood, such as Kal Ho Naa Ho, Jaane Nahin Denge Tujhe, Aal Izz Well and Do Pal, among others.
