Actor Gene Hackman And Wife Betsy Arakawa's Cause Of Death Revealed, Forensic Experts Confirm Couple Died A Week Apart

Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa, were found dead on February 26 under mysterious circumstances. After investigation, the authorities have finally revealed the main reason behind their death.

How did Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa die?

Aș per reports, forensic experts came to a conclusion about their death. They revealed Gene Hackman died due to heart failure with complications from Alzheimer’s disease on an empty stomach. While his wife Betsy Arakawa who had died a week prior was due to a rare rodent-borne disease.

Reports further revealed that, authorities unraveled the mysterious circumstances and revealed that Arakawa likely died on February 11 at home from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a rare but potentially fatal disease spread by infected rodent droppings. Hackman was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s, apparently was unaware that his wife was dead. The partially mummified remains of Hackman, 95, and Betsy Arakawa, 65, were discovered on February 26 when maintenance and security workers showed up at the home and alerted police.

Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said Arakawa’s last known outing was a round of errands and shopping on February 11. She visited a pharmacy, pet store and grocery before returning to the couple’s gated neighbourhood that evening.

Gene Hackman aka Eugene Allen Hackman was born in San Bernardino, California, US. He began his acting career with Broadway plays starting with The Saintliness of Margery Kempe in 1959 and including Come to the Palace of Sin in 1963. 

He made his breakthrough in acting after his portrayal as Jimmy Popeye Doyle in William Friedkin’s action thriller The French Connection (1971). He has also been part of Oscar-nominated films including Bonnie and Clyde (1967), I Never Sang For My Father(1970) and Mississippi Burning (1988).
