Ramzan 2025: Superstar actor Thalapathy Vijay hosted an iftar party for a large group in Chennai on March 7. The holy month of Islam began on March 2 in India following the sighting of the crescent. As a part of the ritual, observers break their daily fast, known as Roza, after evening prayer. The actor-turned-politician, took part in the ritual today. Photos and videos of the same are now viral.

Actor Thalapathy Vijay has pivoted towards politics and is the founder and chief of the political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). He participated in the iftari rituals with other observers. In the clips, now viral, the actor can be seen sitting with other Muslim observers and offering the namaz prayer before breaking roza.

Vijay can be seen in an all-white outfit which he teamed with a skull cap. It is being reported that the actor observed a full-day fast and offered prayers as per Islamic customs. He hosted a lavish feast for thousands of locals observing the month of Ramzan. As per Free Press Journal, “The iftar event was organised by his party at the YMCA grounds in Royapettah, Chennai. Imams from 15 local mosques were invited to participate and preparations were made to accommodate nearly 3,000 attendees.”

In the latest development, Venky Box Office reported that Jana Nayagan’s overseas theatrical deal has been acquired for ₹75 crore. This is reportedly said to be the highest for a Tamil film. As per several reports, the film has surpassed Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life which had acquired the deal for ₹63 crore. But prior to Thug Life, it was Thalapathy Vijay’s film Leo that had set a new benchmark with ₹60 crore for theatrical rights. Meanwhile, Vijay's last film was initially scheduled to hit the theatres on October 17, 2025, but now it has been postponed. The makers have not confirmed the new date yet.
