Amy Schumer’s cheeky review on Barbie, Oppenheimer

On Monday, Amy Schumer wrote on her social media account what she felt about Oppenheimer and Barbie, both of which were released on the same day, July 21. Taking to Instagram, she wrote, "Really enjoyed Barbie and Oppenheimer, but I think I should have played Emily Blunt's role. Do better, Hollywood." Alongside this caption, she posted a picture of herself holding a pink ice lolly.

To recall, when the live-action Barbie film was announced in 2016, Amy was cast for the lead role. It was reported by Entertainment Tonight that she would also work on the script with her sister Kim Caramele. However, due to scheduling conflicts, she had to drop out even before the filming began.

In a statement to ET, she said then, "Sadly, I'm no longer able to commit to Barbie due to scheduling conflicts. The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I'm bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen."

Later in 2019, it was announced that Margot Robbie would take on the lead role, and production had already begun. Just a few days before the film's release, Amy expressed her anticipation, stating that she “couldn't wait to see the movie as it looks awesome.” She added, "I think we said it was scheduling conflicts, that's what we said. But it really was just creative differences. But yeah, there's like a new team behind it and it looks very feminist and cool, so I will be seeing this movie."
