'Back to the Future' actor Crispin Glover has been sued by a former girlfriend, who has accused him of battery, fraud and emotional distress. The actor has denied the claims and called them "baseless allegations," according to PEOPLE.
According to a complaint obtained by PEOPLE, the 61-year-old actor is facing several civil charges, including battery, fraud, wrongful eviction, malicious prosecution and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The lawsuit also includes alleged violations of California's civil rights law, the Bane Act.
The woman, identified as Jane Doe in court papers, is described as a model from the United Kingdom. She claims she met Glover on social media in 2015. According to the filing, she alleges that the actor later encouraged her to move to Los Angeles and made what she described as "strange advances."
The complaint states that Doe first met Glover in person years later in Dresden, Germany. She claims that during this meeting, he "showed off several items of Nazi memorabilia from his collection."
Doe further claims that she was "groomed" by the actor and was promised a fresh start, a home and work in the entertainment industry. The filing says she moved to Los Angeles in 2024 after Glover allegedly offered her a job as his assistant and a place to live.
After she arrived in Los Angeles, Doe claims she was placed in what she described as a "disturbing situation." She alleges that Glover wanted to control her movements and track her whereabouts, and that she depended on him for money and housing.
According to the complaint, an incident took place in early March when Doe told Glover she was stepping out to go to a mosque. She claims that when she returned, she found herself locked out of the house and was told to find another place to stay. The lawsuit alleges she was evicted without notice and left without a home.
The filing also claims that when she tried to re-enter the house to collect her belongings and her pet cats, she was assaulted. Jane Doe alleges that Glover grabbed her neck and choked her, leaving visible marks and a scar.
Doe also accuses the actor of filing a "false police report" and seeking a restraining order against her, which she claims damaged her career and reputation after it became public. She further alleges that Glover continued to contact her even after the restraining order.
In the lawsuit, Jane Doe has asked for a jury trial and is seeking damages, legal costs and other relief.
Glover's representatives have denied the accusations. According to PEOPLE, in a statement to TMZ, his team said, "The reality is that on March 2, 2024, Mr. Glover was the victim of an unprovoked felony assault by Jane Doe at his Los Angeles residence. Mr. Glover called LAPD, which came to the scene, investigated, and arrested Jane Doe." (ANI)
