- The film has earned approximately Rs 35 crore in India, since its release.
Barbie gets OTT release
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav shared that Barbie will be available to stream on Max from September. He said, “We really believe in the motion picture window — let it play out … go into PVOD, take it through the windows that have worked forever [in the business]. When it goes on Max, it will have a good impact in the fall.”
Since taking over the company, Zaslav has been a fierce advocate for the theatrical window. It is in contrast to the previous Warner Bros Media administration, which sparked controversy with its theatrical-day-and-date experiment on HBO Max during Covid.

Zaslav also spoke about how he convinced every division of the corporation to collaborate in order to create "The Summer of Barbie". Along with a Barbie Food Network special and a sneak peek during the NBA Finals on Turner Sports, the strategy also included a Barbie Dreamhouse special on HGTV, which debuted to 4 million people and was shown in 106 countries.

Barbie to earn additional profits
The President and CEO of global streaming and games for WBD, JB Perrette added that films are "very important" to the Max strategy, and even those that don't do well in theatres have a second life on the streaming service.
Barbie made $356 million in its first weekend, making it the greatest debut ever for a film directed by a woman. The film is yet to have a particular release date for streaming since its doing well at the box office. PVOD will be a significant source of additional revenue for the business before it is made available to Max members.
