The two-time Oscar-winner actor Mahershala Ali is in talks to join Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey starrer Jurassic World. Helmed by Gareth Edwards, the movie also stars Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the pivotal roles. The movie is set to begin production in London in mid-June.

Mahershala Ali to join Jurassic World?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, locking Mahershala Ali would be a coup for the movie as his character will be able to provide gravity to the upcoming movie. The actor is known to be picky and playing serious characters. Not much is known about either his character or the plot of the movie. The studio is keeping the plot under wraps but it is expected that the new instalment might ignite a new trilogy in the franchise - Jurassic Park and other three Jurassic World films.

David Koepp, the original screenwriter for Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, wrote the script for the new instalment. The movie is slated to release in theatres on July 2, 2025.

The movie is slated to release on July 2, 2025. Gareth Edwards of The Creator fame is attached as a director with the project, after David Leitch's exit. David Koepp, the screenwriter of the 1993 original Jurassic Park and its 1997 sequel Jurassic Park: The Lost World, will pen the script for the new movie. The project will mark the beginning of a fresh storyline in the Juggernaut series, which has spanned three decades. The franchise started with Steven Speilberg's Jurassic Park trilogy, which also included Jurassic Park III (2001). A new trilogy, set 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park, began with 2015's Jurassic World, followed by sequels - Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Jurassic World Dominion (2022).

What else do we know about Mahershala Ali?

Ali has won two Oscar Awards owing to his acting skills. In 2017, he won an Oscar for his performance in Barry Jenkins' Moonlight, and in 2019, he won another for his performance in Peter Farrelly's Oscar-winning Green Book.

Ali was last seen in Leave the World Behind, starring Julia Roberts Ethan Hawke and Myha'la Herrold. Next, in the lineup is Wildwood directed by Travis Knight. It is an animated dark fantasy adventure drama featuring the voice talents of Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay and Carey Mulligan, among others. The animated drama will hit the theatres next year. If the actor agrees to be part of the Jurrasic world then it will be his second of 2025.
