Jailer OTT release: Rajinikanth starrer to premiere online within a month of its release?

Rajinikanth's latest release Jailer is running successfully in cinema halls. The 169th film of the pan-India actor has turned out to be a massive hit at the worldwide box office. With Jailer, Rajinikanth has landed the second film in his career that has earned Rs 600 crore or more. It has also become the second highest-grossing Tamil film worldwide, only behind Superstar's own 2.0. Despite its continuing success, it has come to light that it may premiere early on OTT.

Jailer’s OTT release date locked?

An HD (high definition) print of Jailer has been leaked online on various piracy sites. This has led to speculations on social media that the Rajinikanth starrer is going to get an early OTT release. According to 123Telugu, Jailer might be released on Sun Pictures’ platform Sun NXT on September 7.

This is a significantly shorter period of time for a massively successful film to be released on OTT. Usually, there’s a 45-60 day period after a film's theatrical release before it is out on OTT. However, Jailer’s leaked print has complicated the situation.

The film is drawing full houses in theatres across the world even after 20 days of its release. The movie has raked over Rs 300 crore nett at the domestic box office and is inching towards Rs 650 crore haul worldwide.
