Even though the popular K-pop band BTS officially announced their news of temporary disintegration in June 2022, their popularity continues to soar on all music charts. Earlier this month, Jimin also became the first soloist to have 7 songs with over 100 numero uno rankings, with his song Closer Than This.

However, one of the side effects of BTS’ popularity is also many fans and individuals cashing on the band’s popularity, and using their name to gain traction or financial aid through Internet. One such case has now surfaced online, after BTS’ agency issued a statement recently.

Zero-tolerance policy in legal actions, BTS' agency stated

Besides these stalking reports, a report has also emerged about an individual who not only impersonated one of the BTS members, but also released music on their name, claiming to be ‘leaked music’ from the band. This part of BigHit’s statement read, “We have obtained evidence of additional crimes of artist impersonation. Additional criminal charges have been filed against the impersonator, leading to arrest and indictment. The trial is pending, awaiting the court’s verdict.”

BigHit also informed that they are “applying a zero-tolerance policy as they take legal action in civil and criminal proceedings against malicious rumours that undermine artists’ reputations.”
