K-pop Girl Group NewJeans Announces Hiatus After Court Rules In Favour Of ADOR: Hope To Meet With Artists Soon

On March 21, the Seoul District Court recently accepted ADOR’s application for induction, which revealed that the members should not engage in independent activities. Amid this, the k-pop girl group have made a big announcement about their future. Following their decision, their agency also issued a statement.

NewJeans’ big decision for future

As per reports, during the performance at ComplexCon in Hong Kong, NewJeans stated that they would be taking time off in respect of the court’s verdict and it was not an easy decision. Post the announcement of the members, their agency ADOR issued statement.

They stated, “We find it unfortunate that the group continues to perform under a name other than NewJeans and has unilaterally declared a halt to activities despite the court’s ruling. ADOR will do its best for the group according to the valid exclusive contract. We hope to meet with the artists soon to discuss future plans”.

With the decision taken by NewJeans, fans came out in support of the agency and many took social media platform to share their views. One user wrote, “Wouldn’t all HYBE groups including New Jeans be thriving right now if MHJ hadn’t started this is in the first place?”. Another user wrote, “Minji wearing her “chapter NJZ” stockings was such a blatant middle finger to ADOR and the injunction. At this point they just don’t seem to care, or aren’t taking any of this seriously. It’s a mix of disregarding consequences, or just being naive. This really feels like a teenager throwing a tantrum because their parents didn’t give in to their demands when they gave them an ultimatum. They are absolutely digging their own career graves.” “They are really trying so hard to be wrong”, wrote the third user.

All about NewJeans and their controversy with ADOR

The controversy between NewJeans and ADOR began last year when the girl group called for an emergency press conference and announced that they are leaving the group. However, the agency later said that their contract is very much valid and even asked them to come back.

NewJeans was formed by ADOR, a sub-label of Hybe. The group is composed of five members- Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyerin. The group was produced by Min Tee-jin and their music is inspired from 1990s and 2000s. The group debuted under the name NewJeans on July 22, 2022, with the single Attention which topped the charts. Several other chartbuster songs they have released- Ditto, OMG, Get Up, Hype Boy, Cookie, Super Shy, Cool With You and ETA among others.
