NewJeans Vs ADOR: Court Halts K-Pop Group’s Activities, Netizens Come Out In Support Of Agency Saying NewLiars are lucky...'

The controversy surrounding NewJeans and ADOR has taken a new turn. In the latest development Seoul District Court has ruled in favour of ADOR, the HYBE subsidiary managing K-pop sensation NewJeans, granting the company right over the group’s activities. This comes after the girl group was all set to perform at ComplexCon under rebranded name NJZ. As soon as the announcement came out, netizens soon gave their verdict on the matter.

Netizens surprisingly came out in support of the agency ADOR and flooded social media platform. One Reddit user wrote, “I swear no other company would be this nice to people trying to coup the company, and involved in tampering. NewLiars are lucky they are not under SM, they would have squashed them long time ago.”

Another user wrote, “I know I know. I just wish they got SM treatment, SM and Kakao would have buried them for now. But if they were under SM they would never dare to coup, tamper and bully other groups so freely”. “If it was SM, they would’ve been sued and blacklisted”, wrote the third user.

This ruling in favour of ADOR directly impact the five members of NewJeans- Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Herein and Hyein, who have been trying to terminate their contracts with the agency and rebranding themselves.

ADOR expressed gratitude for the court’s decision and issued an official statement.   “With our status as NewJeans' exclusive agency now legally affirmed, we are fully committed to supporting the artists going forward," the statement read. “Additionally, ADOR confirmed its presence at ComplexCon this weekend, ensuring that any performance by NewJeans takes place under its official name. The agency also expressed its eagerness to engage in direct discussions with the members soon. We will be fully present at ComplexCon this weekend to guarantee the performance is presented under the NewJeans name. We eagerly anticipate meeting with the artists for a heartfelt conversation at the earliest opportunity. We sincerely ask that you send your warm support and encouragement to NewJeans, which will grow again together with ADOR. Thank you", the statement concluded.

All about controversy between NewJeans and ADOR

Last year NewJeans sent shockwaves across entertainment industry called for emergency press conference and announced that they are leaving ADOR. They said, “The reason we are leaving ADOR is very simple, and I think the reporters here who know our situation are also all very aware.

NewJeans is an artist of ADOR, and ADOR is obligated to protect NewJeans. It is the most basic obligation that an agency has. ADOR does not have the will or ability to protect NewJeans. If we remain here, it will be a waste of our time, and our mental distress will continue. More than anything, there is nothing that we can gain in terms of works, so the five of us think that there is no reason at all for us to remain at ADOR”. However, the agency later said that their contract is very much valid and even asked them to come back.

For the unversed, NewJeans is a five-member girl group under ADOR and HYBE Labels. The members consist of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. They made their debut on July 22, 2022 with their single Attention which was followed by their debut extended play.
