Hema Committee Report: After the release of the controversial Hema Committee Report detailing sexual abuse allegations and other problems faced by women in Mollywood, the film industry appears to be facing a moment of reckoning. The report was released on August 19, despite opposition from various stakeholders. In the latest development, Film Employee Federation Of Kerala (FEFKA) has demanded the release of the report in full, including the redacted portions which reportedly names perpetrators of sexual abuse.

What is FEFKA demanding ?

Film Employee Federation Of Kerala has demanded the revelation of names of those accused of sexual harassment in Malayalam cinema as mentioned in Hema Committee findings. As per the press release, they also stated that disciplinary action should be taken if any of its members were arrested.

A statement read, “We are aware of the criticism against the silence we maintained in the issue. We do not want to issue empty, fancy statements but recommended strong action and policies that will bring about a he change within hours”.

The statement further mentioned,” The names of the accused in the Hema Commission report should be made public. We will not tolerate anyone who is guilty of the crimes they have been accused of. The federation also plans to release an analysis report of the Hema Commission findings and will also hold an executive committee in Kochi from September 2 to 4 in this regard. We are also taking opinions of the women members prior to publishing the analysis report."

FEFKA demands thorough investigation in #MeToo allegations

As per reports, Film Employee Federation Of Kerala (FEFKA) has also mentioned that no action would be taken against Ranjith without any thorough investigation.

In addition, the association has reportedly decided to add the services of an expert clinical psychologist to help survivors overcome any fears or hesitations about approaching the Special Investigation Team and initiating legal proceedings.
