Turbo Box Office Collection Day 5: Mammootty Starrer Witnesses A Drop, Mints ₹2.40 Crore On Monday

Mammootty starrer Turbo performed well on its first four days at the box office and minted ₹18.35 crore India net. However, it witnessed a drop in the daily collection on the first Monday. The movie is helmed by Vysakh and co-stars Raj B. Shetty, Sunil and Kabir Duhan Singh in their debuts in Malayalam cinema. Anjana Jayaprakash, Bindu Panicker and Shabareesh Varma in prominent roles.

The action comedy-drama earned an estimated ₹2.40 crore on its first weekday, as per Sacnilk. Adding the fifth-day collection, the total now stands at ₹20.75 crore. Turbo had an overall 22.57 percent Malayalam occupancy on Monday, with a maximum reported in Kollam (44.25 percent). Turbo witnessed major ups and downs in the first weekend. The movie opened at ₹6.25 crore and then witnessed a drop on the second day ₹3.7 crore. However, on Saturday and Sunday, it picked up a pace, minting ₹4.05 crore and ₹4.35 crore, respectively.

What is Turbo about?

Turbo is a mass-action entertainer revolving around the life of Turbo Jose, a Jeep driver from Idukki, who gets in trouble and is forced to relocate to Chennai. There he gets entangled with Indhulekha and his friend Jerry. However, a bunch of surprises in the form of Vetrivel Shanmugha Sundaram and others await Jose in Chennai. This film also marks Mammootty’s reunion with Vysakh after Pokkiri Raja and its sequel Madhura Raja. Starring Mammootty, the film also features Kannada actor Raj B Shetty and Telugu actor Sunil alongside Anjana Jayaprakash of Pachuvinte Albhuthavilakkum fame.

Turbo to get a sequel?

The movie concludes by opening up the possibilities of a new cinematic universe that not only includes films featuring Mammootty, but also projects involving other leading stars of the Malayalam film industry. Recent media reports suggest that the second part of the film is indeed happening. If everything goes as planned, Turbo 2 might begin production after director Vysakh completes his next project, Khalifa, which stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role. The new project is expected to start rolling by the end of 2024.
