Maidaan OTT Release: When And Where To Watch Ajay Devgn's Sports Drama

Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan opened to positive reviews by critics and audiences. However, it failed to leave a mark at the box office despite releasing the movie during a long weekend. The biographical sports drama, helmed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, revolved around the life of  Syed Abdul Rahim, a pioneering football coach in India between 1952 and 1962. Now two months after the theatrical release, the movie has made its debut on OTT.

Where and when to watch Maidaan on OTT

Co-starring Priyamani and Gajraj Rao in pivotal roles, the movie was available on Prime Video for rent. Now, the OTT giant has made it free to watch across 240 countries and territories worldwide from today, June 5. The official X account of Amazon Prime Video shared a post at midnight announcing the digital premiere. "Ground breaking story of India’s finest hour in football," the caption reads.

Maidaan's box office tale

The movie released alongside Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. In the film, Ajay Devgn essays the role of Syed Abdul Rahim, a former Indian football coach who guided the team to its first Asian Games. Maidaan raked in ₹2.6 crore through paid previews and then opened to ₹4.5 crore on day 1 of theatrical release (April 11). On the first weekend of release, the movie managed to mint ₹14.9 crore in India. Even after discounts on tickets and (Buy One Get One) BOGO offers, the sports drama minted ₹1.5 crore on the first Monday, followed by ₹1.65 core on Tuesday. On Day 7 (April 17), the biopic minted ₹2 crore, as per early estimates by Sacnilk. The movie’s total after seven days stood at ₹27.10 crore.
