In a major blow to the team of Jailer, it has been reported that the Rajinikanth starrer has been leaked online. Trade expert Manorama Vijayabalan took to his social media handle to inform that a pirated, high-definition (HD) print of the latest Tamil film is now available online.

3 things you need to know:

  • Jailer was released on August 10.
  • Jailer is the 2nd fastest Tamil film to cross the Rs 600 crore mark at the worldwide box office.
  • The film is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, whose previous release Beast was a box office failure.

Jailer leaked online

Rajinikanth starrer Jailer fell prey to piracy days ahead of its reported OTT premiere in September. Despite laws being stringent against film piracy, an HD version of the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial has found its way online on multiple sites. Ever since the film's release, video clips from theatre screenings have been shared online by fans. Makers took immediate action and sent copyright strikes on social media.

However, the movie is now reportedly available for streaming online in high quality on various piracy sites. This will affect the film's business in the coming days. This has also raised concerns about what measures can be taken to prevent piracy of the latest films.

Jailer marks Rajinikanth's comeback

Rajinikanth was last seen in the 2021 film Annaatthe, which also featured Nayanthara, Khushbu and Keerthy Suresh. Ahead of the Jailer release, a debate ensued over the ‘Superstar’ title, generally considered to be the 72-year-old star’s exclusive domain, over his ability to rake in the moolah at the box office. His last few films received lukewarm response. However, Jailer opened to positive reviews and banked on good word-of-mouth. It has crossed Rs 600 crore mark worldwide in less than three weeks of its release.
