Amid Fan War, Vettaiyan Star Rajinikanth 'Embraces' Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT 'With Love'
While fans remain divided between GOAT and Vettaiyan, director Venkat Prabhu has shared that the Thalaivar called him to appreciate the Thalapathy Vijay film.
Vettaiyan starring Rajinikanth in the lead role hit the big screens on October 10, days before Dussehra. The cop-actioner film has been performing well at the box office and has breached the ₹100 crore mark. However, fan wars have been rampant on social media between Thalaivar and Thalapathy Vijay's fans who have been comparing the film with GOAT. Amid this, GOAT director Venkat Prabhu has shared that the superstar Rajinikanth called him to give a shoutout to the Thalapathy Vijay starrer.

The industry insiders seem to be unfazed by the emerging fan wars. On October 19, days after the release of Vettaiyan, the GOAT director Venkat Prabhu took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share that Rajinikanth gave a shoutout to their film. The director's revelation has now gone viral online.
In his post, Venkat Prabhu wrote, “Thank you, Thalaivaaaa!! for the call and for embracing our #GOAT with so much love. Thanks again for appreciating wholeheartedly. Forever grateful, sending you all the love.” The comment was met with hilarious reactions and memes from both Vijay and Rajinikanth's fans. Some even requested for a collaboration between Venkat Prabhu and Rajinikanth.
Vettaiyan vs GOAT box office
GOAT, starring Thalapathy Vijay, released in September earlier this year. It opened to a much bigger number and showed strong legs in the coming days. The sci-fi actioner minted ₹52 crore on its day 1. The extended first-weekend collection stood at ₹160.9 crore. Worldwide, the numbers stood at an impressive ₹221+ crore. The Thalapathy Vijay starrer amassed a total of ₹ 251.25 Cr in a four-week theatrical run.
Vettaiyan, on the other hand, opened to ₹ 31.7 Cr. The film has amassed a total of ₹ 124.80 Cr till now. The Rajinikanth starrer has been in theatres only for 9 days, as of now and is expected to grow further in the coming days.
