Lucky Baskhar is set to be released during Diwali. In a recent interview, Dulquer Salmaan opened up about the health difficulties he faced over the past year.
Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan is getting busy in Tollywood these days. Year after the disappointing performance of King of Kotha at the box office, Kunjikka’s upcoming film Lucky Baskhar, directed by Venkat Atluri, is set to be released soon. Initially, Lucky Baskhar was slated for release on September 27, 2024, but this was postponed to avoid a clash with Thalapathy's GOAT. As the film is finally scheduled for a worldwide release on October 31, 2024, the cast is actively engaged in the promotions. Recently, during an interview, the actor made a concerning revelation that he has faced health issues, after his last film.
Dulquer Salmaan faced health issues after the film didn’t perform well at the box office?
In a recent promotional interview, Dulquer discussed the difficulties he faced over the past year.
Dulquer Salmaan explained, “I needed a short break. It's nobody's fault; some films fell through. I also faced health issues. Last year, I was able to do only one film. Perhaps that was my fault; I didn't pay enough attention to my health.” He further said that his health problems impacted his ability to work.
He also highlighted his father, superstar Mammootty, who remains deeply committed to his career, portraying characters with dedication even after many years in the industry. “My father is always thinking about his characters and movies, even when he’s at home. One day, he suddenly snapped his fingers and said, ‘I got it.’ I asked what, and he replied, ‘My character.’ He was talking about the movie he was going to start shooting in a few weeks. He has a one-track mind,” Dulquer noted.
Dulquer Salmaan has done only one film in 2024 so far
King of Kotha was released on August 24, 2023, during the Onam festival. The film stars Dulquer Salmaan and was directed by Abhilash Joshiy. It also stars Aishwarya Lekshmi, Nyla Usha, Shammi Thilakan, and Gokul Suresh.
Unfortunately, King of Kotha did not perform well at the box office, receiving a mixed response upon its release. It grossed ₹38.30 crores, falling short of its ₹50 crore budget. Since King of Kotha, he has only appeared in one film, director Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, and that too in just a cameo role.
