GOAT Producer Defends Thalapathy Vijay’s ₹200 Crore Fees For Film Amid Industry Debate

Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT: The Tamil star is all set for his upcoming release The Greatest of All Time (GOAT). Be it the plot details, mixed reviews of de-aging technology or the astronomical budget, the film, before its release has managed to grab the attention of the netizens. Recently, AGS Entertainment CEO Archana Kalpathi revealed a few details about the film.

According to reports, in a recent interview, Archana Kalapathi revealed that the production house spent a whopping ₹400 crore on the film's making. It is undoubtedly one of the most expensive Tamil films ever made.

Archana Kalapthi also defended the budget of the film, stating that a top actor’s salary is directly proportional to the revenue they can generate at the box office. She said, “Our goal is for films to recover costs and then some solely from theatrical runs, not factoring in incomes from streaming, satellite or other language versions”. Reportedly, she confirmed Vijay getting ₹200 crore from the film.

“Moreover, the focus would be on the opening weekend ticket sales, producers experience the pressure to perform that sparks creative brilliance”, Archana said.

The Greatest of All Time will also feature actors Prashanth, Prabhudheva, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Mohan, Jayaram, Ajmal Ameer and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored the music for the movie and Siddhartha Nuni is the cinematographer. GOAT is slated for a worldwide release in theatres on September 5.

GOAT’s plot centres around four RAW agents whose past actions come back to haunt them, setting the stage for a high-stakes action drama. 

For the unversed, Vijay, known for films such as Leo, Mersal, Master and Bigil, is set to make a full-time political entry after the release of The Greatest of All Time. It could be that Vijay will do another film after GOAT but its yet to be confirmed.
