Kanguva producer KE Gnanavel Raja addressed the recent allegations that studios are inflating box office numbers and promised that movie would be transparent.
Producer KE Gnanavel Raja has been gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie Kanguva starring Suriya. The Pan-India movie has been billed as one of the most expensive with the project made on a budget of over ₹300 crore. In a recent interview, the producer was asked if the movie will be able to gross ₹1000 crore. The producer replied not to underestimate Suriya's starrer.
Suriya starrer Kanguva to break ₹2000 crore mark?
In an interview with Galatta, KE Gnanavel Raja was asked about the ₹1000 crore club of Indian cinema and if Kanguva will be able to gross the amount globally. To this, the producer replied that he was expecting ₹2000 crore at the box office and asked the audience not to underestimate the collection of movies. "I am expecting ₹2000 crore box office collection, and why are you underestimating it with ₹1000 crore mark," he said.
He also addressed the recent allegations that studios are inflating box office numbers and hiding the real figures. He emphasised that the action thriller would be transparent and provide the appropriate documentation. "I intend to submit the GST from Studio Green and provide the appropriate documentation regarding the Kanguva box office collection. In the future, all interested parties may verify this information with other producers to ensure they are aware of the genuine box office collection reports," he said.
Kanguva producer takes a dig at Akshay Kumar with box office non-performer remark
Earlier, in an interview, the Kanguva producer said, "Recently, a big film was released with top stars in it. The team gave all the official announcements about the cast. But that didn’t help the movie a bit in getting opening day collections.” Many thought that the Kanguva producer indirectly took a dig at Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan. However, in a recent interview, he cleared the air and said that he was actually talking about Khel Khel Mein, which stars top star cast, including Akshay Kumar , Taapsee Pannu , Amy Virk and Vaani Kapoor.
Meanwhile, Kanguva, starring Bobby Deol and Disha Patani , will hit the theatres on November 14.
