Rajinikanth Confirms Vettaiyan Box Office Clash With Jr NTR's Devara On Dussehra

Vettaiyan, billed as an entertainer with a message, marks Rajinikanth’s 170th feature film. It will release on October 10 alongside Jr NTR's Devara Part 1.

Rajinikanth, who has embarked on a spiritual trip to the Himalayas, recently shared updates about his two upcoming projects. The Tamil Superstar shared that he will begin work on Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie in June after returning back from his trip. Meanwhile, he also confirmed the release date of his much-anticipated Vettaiyan. According to Rajinikanth's update, his upcoming pan-India film with director TJ Gnanavel will clash with another biggie.

Rajinikanth sets up clash with Jr NTR

Rajinikanth had wrapped up the shoot of Vettaiyan earlier in May. The film has gone into post-production now and according to the the Jailer star, will release on October 10. Jr NTR's long-delayed movie Devara Part 1, co-starring Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor will also hit the big screens on the same date, thus setting up a big clash on Dussehra holiday. Viewers will surely be spoilt for choice come the festival period.

What do we know about Vettaiyan?

Vettaiyan, billed as an entertainer with a message, marks Rajinikanth’s 170th feature film. The movie also features Amitabh Bachchan, who finished shooting his part earlier this month. Rajinikanth, 73 and Bachchan, 81, last collaborated on the 1991 Hindi film Hum, helmed by Mukul S Anand. Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier and Dushara Vijayan star in key roles in Vettaiyan.

Rajinikanth was last seen in sports action film Lal Salaam. His next after Vettaiyan will be Coolie. The movie, which is backed by Chennai-based production house Sun Pictures, is the 171st film of Rajinikanth’s career.
