Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT: The latest film of the Tamil star is doing great at the box office, ever since it released on September 5. Now, an interesting revelation has surfaced. Vijay plays dual role in the movie, that of the father and the son. The younger version of Thalapathy Vijay was supposed to be played by the actor himself with de-ageing technology being used on him. However, that is not the case.
Who played the younger version of Thalapathy Vijay in GOAT?
As per reports, in GOAT, the younger version of Thalapathy Vijay is played by the Kollywood artist Ayaz Khan. Though the de-ageing technology was still used, the role wasn’t played by the Bigil actor himself.
Ayaz took to Instagram to express his gratitude to Venkat Prabhu, Vijay and the whole team for offering him such a significant opportunity. He wrote, “Very happy to be a part of this amazing project @venkatprabhu. Thank you sir, for your appreciation of my acting and for how you acknowledged my acting videos. I still remember how you introduced me to Mohan sir. It was a goosebumps moment, sir. It was a super experience, and I learned a lot from you. Once again, thank you so much, sir."
When Thalapathy Vijay faced backlash for his de-aged look in GOAT
Before the release of the movie, when the song Spark was released, the music video faced severe backlash from netizens for the Theri actor’s de-aged look. The makers had used a single shot dance portion from the song in the lyrical video.
Later, before GOAT released, the director revealed that Vijay jetted off to US for some VFX work related to his look as the younger version in the film. The post production work was done at the studio popular for its de-ageing technology.
GOAT is biggest Tamil opener of 2024
GOAT has emerged biggest Tamil opener of 2024. On the first day the film minted ₹44 crore. This was despite its Hindi version not releasing on some of the National chains in the North. It is said to be Vijay’s penultimate film before his full fledged entry into politics.
