'Vettaiyan Disaster' Trends Before Release As Vijay Fans Troll Rajinikanth Starrer For Poor Bookings

Rajinikanth starrer Vettaiyan is just a day away to hit the theatres and ahead of it the movie is creating a heavy buzz, but for all the wrong reasons. The TJ Gnanavel's directorial is being trolled by Thalapathy Vijay's fans ahead of the release owing to poor booking. They are trending "Vettaiyan Disaster" on social media. For the unversed, reports suggest that Rajinikanth and Vijay share a rivalry.

Thalapathy Vijay's fans are bashing Rajinikanth starrer Vettaiyan

On X (former Twitter), Vijay's fans are giving negative reviews to the Vettaiyan hours before the release of the movie. An X user shared a post in Tamil that we loosely translated to "You reap what you sow."

Another shared a clip of Vijay from a movie and captioned it as "Vijay fans celebrate to Vettaiyan".

The third user shared a video showing not many have booked tickets on Paytm for Vettaiyan. The user has shown all the slots appear to be barely full.

Another user shared a video and wrote, "#VettaiyanDisaster - Mayajaal 16screen multiplex has an average seating capacity of 150 seats out of which 60 to 70 seats are empty for each and every show which is clear in the screen recording."

Another shared the show screengrab of the slots available for Vettaiyan and tagged it as a "disaster" as not one slot is houseful.

A user from Vellakoil showed that his town has only four shows available.

Last year in July during the audio launch of Jailer, Rajinikanth shared a story about crows trying to bring down other birds. “In the world of birds, a crow disturbs everyone. An eagle, however, remains undisturbed. When a crow bothers an eagle, the eagle doesn’t react; it simply moves on to the next stage," he said.

Soon after his statement went viral with Vijay fans speculating that it was for the actor. However, earlier this year the superstar cleared the air at the audio launch of Lal Salaam in January. Rajini said, "The story of a crow and eagle was interpreted differently. On social media, many spread rumours saying it was against Vijay. It’s so disappointing. Vijay grew up in front of my eyes.”

“During the shooting of Dharmathin Thalaivan, he was just 13 years old, and looked at me from upstairs. After the shooting, SA Chandrasekar introduced Vijay to me and said that he was interested in acting. He asked me to tell Vijay to concentrate on his studies first. I advised him to complete his schooling," he recalled the days when he once filmed a movie at Vijay's house.

Vettaiyan advance booking

Vettaiyan has registered a steady pace in the advanced booking space. The film will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages with Tamil dominating the business currently. However, the film also features veteran Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan which may tip the scales in favour of the Hindi version a little bit. As per a report in Sacnilk, the Rajinikanth movie has raked in ₹10.96 Cr in advanced bookings collections in India.
