Vettaiyan Vs GOAT Box Office: Rajini's Film Grossly Underperforms In Comparison To Vijay Starrer
By the looks of it, Vettaiyan will fall short of becoming the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2024 by a huge margin. Vijay's GOAT will claim the top spot.
Rajinikanth starrer Vettaiyan released on October 10 amid much anticipation. It is slowly inching towards disaster status at the box office with mixed reviews not working favour of the film despite a star-studded cast and TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim fame at the helm of affairs. In its first week and the second weekend, the box office numbers have continuously declined, painting a not-so-good picture for the pan-India film, also featuring industry heavyweights like Amitabh Bachchan , Fahadh Faasil and Rana Daggubati among others.
Vettaiyan collection continues to decline over the second weekend
In nine days since its release, Vettaiyan has collected ₹124.75 crore nett in India in all languages. The worrying aspect is that the collection is on a downward trajectory, indicating that the film will crash soon. According to Sacnilk, the film's collections are driven by the Tamil market. Outside the state, the business has been dismal. The combined Telugu and Hindi figures for the film have been below the ₹18 crore mark.
Overseas, Vettaiyan has collected ₹73 crore, taking its total to ₹218.65 crore worldwide in a little over a week. This is despite the film's festive release. Audiences are not liking the movie and Rajinikanth's star power remains the only draw.
Vettaiyan Vs GOAT box office collection
By the looks of it, Vettaiyan will fall short of becoming the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2024 by a huge margin. Thalapathy Vijay's GOAT will claim the top spot at the box office. In nine days, while Vettaiyan has not been able to cross the ₹125 crore mark, while GOAT had collected ₹217 crore plus in India.
GOAT Hindi collection was also decent, with a lifetime business of ₹22.5 crore. Vettaiyan has filed to make an impact in the North markets, with a meager collection of a little over ₹3 crore. Meanwhile, reports have surfaced that Rajniknath will have to compensate Lyca Productions for the box office losses incurred by the latest film. He might sign on other projects for the banner for a lesser fee due to the gross underperformance of Vettaiyan.
