Vijayakanth funeral: Rajinikanth breaks down in his car after paying homage to Captain | Video

Rajinikanth cancelled the shooting of Vettaiyan to pay his last respects to Vijayakanth. After the funeral, the actor was seen breaking down in his car.

Vijayakanth, DMDK founder and veteran Tamil actor, died after a prolonged illness on Thursday morning. Following his demise, Rajinikanth cancelled the shooting of his film Vettaiyan and reached Island Grounds in Chennai on Friday morning to pay his last respects to Capatin. After paying homage to Vijayakanth and offering condolences to his family, the Jailer actor was inconsolale at the funeral and was seen breaking down in his car.

Rajinikanth gets emotional at Vijayakanth's funeral

In the video that has surfaced online, Rajinikanth was seen weeping in his car while others held his hand to console him after the funeral. Rajinikanth was distraught  and looked visibly shaken by Captain's death. The actor could not hold back his tears and broke down inside his car while the fellow mourners came to help him.

Rajinikanth pays homage to Vijayakanth

After hearing the news of Vijayakanth's death, Rajinikanth left the shooting of his film and rushed to Chennai to pay his last respects to Captain in Chennai. Rajinikanth was seen meeting Premalatha Vijayakanth, Captain's wife, and his sons. He was also seen offering his heartfelt condolences to her. He further paid his last respects to Vijayakanth and offered flowers to his mortal remains in a glass casket.

Rajinikanth also briefly spoke to the media and remembered Vijayakanth. He said, "We will never get a person as good as Vijayakanth. In politics and cinema, there is no one like him. This loss is irreplaceable."

Speaking to media from the Tuticorin airport, Rajinikanth said, "My heart aches. Vijayakanth was a man with great willpower. Lastly, I saw him at the DMDK's genral body meeting and thought he would bounce back after battling his health issues. His death is a huge loss to the people of Tamil Nadu."

He further said, "If he was healthy, he would have been a formidable force in politics. He would have done so many good deeds for the people. People of Tamil Nadu have now lost him. May his soul rest in peace." Meanwhile, Vijayakanth was admitted for the treatment of pneumonia and was on ventilator support. He tested positive for Covid-19. However, he passed away, leaving his family and friends in shock.
