Kamal Haasan pays homage to Vijayakanth
After hearing the news of Vijayakanth's death, Kamal Haasan rushed to Chennai to pay tribute to Captain. In the video that surfaced online, Kamal Haasan can be seen meeting Premalatha Vijayakanth, Captain's wife. He further paid his last respects to Vijayakanth and offered flowers to his mortal remains resting in a glass casket.
Speaking to the media, he said, "Simplicity, love, labour, friendship - if all these tags are used to define a person, it'll obviously be Vijayakanth. It will perfectly suit him. I knew him long before he tasted stardom. But, he behaved the same way even after attaining stardom. What I like about him is his humility and righteous anger. I am fan of his anger. I think that could be the reason why he did public service. It is said to see the loss of a honest man like him. But, I hope people like him will emerge soon. I am bidding adieu to my dear friend in that hope.”
Rajinikanth expressed his grief on Vijayakanth's death
Rajinikanth was shooting for his film Vettaiyan in Tuticorin along with Fahadh Faasil and others. However, after hearing the news of Vijayakanth's death, the actor left the shooting of his film and rushed to Chennai to pay his last respects to Captain in Chennai.
Speaking to media from the Tuticorin airport, Rajinikanth said, "My heart aches. Vijayakanth was a man with great willpower. Lastly, I saw him at the DMDK's genral body meeting and thought he would bounce back after battling his health issues. His death is a huge loss to the people of Tamil Nadu."
He further said, "If he was healthy, he would have been a formidable force in politics. He would have done so many good deeds for the people. People of Tamil Nadu have now lost him. May his soul rest in peace."
Where will Vijayakanth be cremated?
Vijayakanth's mortal remains are kept in Chennai from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to a DMDK party statement. The funeral procession will begin at 1 p.m., and Vijayakanth's remains will be transported to the DMDK party headquarters via the Poonamallee High Road. Captain's final rites will be held at the party office at 4.45 p.m., with full state honours.
