Chandni Bhagwanani opens up about replacing Muskan Bamne in Anupamaa

Fans of popular TV show Anupamaa recently witnessed a major change as Muskan Bamne decided to quit the show. Muskan, who was playing the role of Pakhi, was replaced by Chandni Bhagwanani. In a recent media interaction, Chandni spoke about her latest project and the pressures of taking up such a popular role.

Rupali ji made me very comfortable: Chandni Bhagwanani

Speaking exclusively to Pinkvilla, Chandni Bhagwanani talked about her first day on Anupamaa sets, among other subjects. Recalling the first day’s shoot for the show, Bhagwanani stated, “I was a little scared to take up the show because it is a replacement character. I was thinking what if the cast and crew feel that they like the earlier character better? However, the atmosphere on the sets was extremely positive and people were very welcoming." Chandni was particularly full of praises for show’s lead Rupali Ganguly, adding, “Rupali ji made me very comfortable and included me in during lunchtime as well."

Chandni also mentioned that part of her apprehension also came from her previous experiences of playing negative roles when she received a lot of criticism online. Chandni elaborated, “I used to get a lot of hate online and even death threats. I had made up my mind to not take up a negative character after that. However, now I have made myself understand that online hatred is the proof that the actor is playing the part of perfection."

My mother watches only Anupamaa, Bhagwanani shared 

Chandni also mentioned that her mother is a big fan of Anupamaa as well, even though she doesn’t watch much television otherwise, which adds to the actress’ happiness about being part of the project. She added, “I've played three shows in the lead roles namely Amita Ka Amit, Jhalli Anjali, and Tumhi Ho Bandhu but my mother hasn't watched any of them. The only show she watches is Anupamaa.”

The Jhalli Anjali actress began her career as a child artist, and gradually gained popularity with her work in shows like Amita Ka Amit and Tumhi Ho Bandhu Sakha Tumhi. Before Anupamaa, the actress was last seen in the TV show Sindoor Ki Keemat.
