Devil first impression: Netizens hail Kalyan Ram's performance, twists and turns in second half

The Nandamuri Kalyan Ram starrer Telugu action-drama Devil: The Secret British Agent released to packed house and great response at the box office today. While the initial critics’ reviews are still pouring in for the film, netizens have been sharing their initial reactions about the film, and most of them are rather glowing.

Kalyan Ram One Man Show, one user commented 

One X user (formerly Twitter) posted on their page their review of the film. The said netizen called Devil a ‘One Man Show’ praising Kalyan Ram’s performance. The post also noted that while the first half is purely story, the second half has few ‘chill’ moments suggesting abundance of twists and turns in the narrative.

Another X user also praised the Kalyan Ram starrer for their twists and turns particularly in second half, also calling the interval block ‘crazy.’ Besides praising the film’s technical elements like background score and production values, the said user also expressed their admiration towards the performance of film’s female lead Samyuktha.

Kalyan Ram made surprised appearance at a screening

Another X user named Anil Kumar was particularly full of praises for Kalyan Ram’s performance, stating that his act elevated the film. Like most other critics’ reviews, this user too praised the film’s second half more than the first half.

Amidst all the glowing audience reactions, there are also plenty of videos surfacing of Kalyan Ram’s surprise arrival at one of the single screens in Hyderabad where Devil: The British Secret Agent was playing. As evident in the video clips circulating, the actor-producer also sat and watched the film with rest of the audience. 

Produced by the reputed banner Abhishek Pictures, Devil: British Secret Agent was announced in July 2021. The film, there on, was a long time in the making, and the shooting wrapped up only in April 2023. Babu Baga Busy  filmmaker Naveen Medaram was directing the project and reportedly supervised the entire shoot. However, due to some undisclosed reasons, the filmmaker was taken off the project, and producer Abhishek Nama now holds the director’s credit for the film.
