Double iSmart To Clash With Pushpa 2 In Theatres? Here's All We Know

The highly anticipated sequel to Ustaad Ram Pothineni and director Puri Jagannadh's blockbuster iSmart Shankar has finally been scheduled for release. The makers have announced that Double iSmart will hit theaters on Independence Day, August 15. This announcement follows the reported postponement of Allu Arjun’s major release, Pushpa 2.

Double iSmart averts competition from Pushpa 2?

Pushpa 2 is one of the most awaited films of the year, and its delay opened up the lucrative Independence Day release slot. This date is particularly advantageous due to the holidays on Thursday and Monday (Raksha Bandhan), providing Double iSmart with an extended 4-day weekend.

Accompanying the release date announcement, a poster featuring Ram Pothineni was unveiled. The poster depicts him in a powerful look, with three horizontal lines of Vibhooti on his forehead, a Shiva Lingam, and a flambeau in the background.

Earlier, the film’s teaser was released, promising to deliver twice the action and entertainment of its predecessor. The teaser begins with a voiceover laden with cuss words describing the protagonist, who appears to be imprisoned in a lab. Scenes show Ram’s character engaging in flirtatious and unruly behavior until he confronts Sanjay Dutt’s character, Big Bull. This marks Sanjay Dutt’s debut in Telugu cinema, portraying a gangster in a climactic fight scene near a Shiva linga. The teaser also features Kavya Thapar, Bani J, Getup Srinu, and Ali.

In Double iSmart, Sanjay Dutt plays the antagonist, with Kavya Thapar starring opposite Ram Pothineni. The film’s cinematography is handled by Sam K Naidu and Gianni Gianneli, while Mani Sharma provides the music. Produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur under the Puri Connects banner, the film will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
