Set against the backdrop of Vizag, Varun Tej and Meenakshi Chaudhary starrer Matka is inspired by the life of the 'Matka King' and will release on November 14.
Varun Tej is all set to return to the big screen with his upcoming film Matka. The film, directed by Karuna Kumar, is speculated to be a biopic of Ratan Khetri after the makers hinted that the film is based on real-life incidents. Khetri was a prominent figure in the world of "Matka" gambling. The makers recently released the teaser of the film raising fan anticipation.

Matka teaser opens with a voiceover stating that 90% of the wealth is controlled by just 1% of the population. Following this, the protagonist resolves to join the elite ranks of those who claim the majority share. The teaser also features the portrayal of a young man from humble beginnings who, despite facing numerous obstacles, ascends to great heights. His motto is simple as long as human greed exists people like him will drive in business.
With the portrayal of Varun Tej’s various roles in the film, fans couldn’t contain their excitement and flooded the comment section. One user wrote, “Such a versatile actor he is”. The film's music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar, with Karthika Srinivas R handling editing, Ashish Teja handling production design, and Suresh handling art direction. In addition to Telugu, Matka will also be released in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi on November 14.
Matka which takes place between 1958-1982 is based on a real incident that shook the entire nation and the story is set in the backdrop of Vizag. The story spans 24 years. Apart from Varun Tej, the film also stars Meenakshi Chowdary, Naveen Chandra, Kannada Kishore and Ajay Ghosh among others.
