Singer Kalpana Raghavendar's Daughter Confirms 'Overuse Of Pills' By Her After Alarming Hospitalisation, Shares Health Update

Renowned playback singer Kalpana Raghavendar was found unconscious at her residence in Rangareddy, Telangana. The 44-year-old singer was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital after being discovered in an alarming state. Her condition has since stabilised, and she is now receiving the necessary medical treatment. Her daughter Daya Prasad Prabhakar spoke against spreading any "false information" of attempted suicide about her mother, but confirmed an "overuse of pills".

Kalpana Raghavendar's daughter speaks against spreading of false information

"This is not a suicide attempt. The overuse of pills is due to general stress. Please do not manipulate any information. Our family is perfectly fine,” Daya said. Kalpana's daughter also shared that her mother had been taking insomnia medication, which she overdosed on. She further confirmed that her health is stable now.

“My mother is perfectly fine and healthy now. My mother is currently doing her LLB and PhD, because of which she has insomnia. To treat her insomnia, the doctor prescribed her a tablet, and she consumed it in an overdose. This is not a suicide attempt. The overuse of pills is due to general stress. Please do not manipulate any information. Our family is perfectly fine,” she said.

Kalpana’s daughter Daya added, “I request the media not to manipulate the information. Everything is fine in our family. Everyone is doing well. My mom will be back with all of you in a few days. That’s all I have to say. Please do not create panic by manipulating information.”

First responders find Kalpana Raghavendar unconscious in her home

According to authorities, the KPHB police station received an emergency call from the apartment committee in Hyderabad at around 5 pm. Upon their arrival at Kalpana's residence, officers found the door to her apartment locked. However, looking through the kitchen window, they observed the singer lying unconscious on her bed. The police and medical responders transported Kalpana to the Holistic Hospital via an ambulance. Her husband arrived shortly after, by 6 pm.

Kalpana is known for her contribution to the Indian music industry, having sung numerous popular tracks in various languages over the years. She is the daughter of popular playback singers TS Raghavendra and Sulochana. Her younger sister, Shekinah Shawn (formerly Prasanna Raghavendar), is an opera singer.

Kalpana's most famous songs include Navamoorthulainatti from Intinta Annamayya and Pogiren from 36 Vayadhinile, for which she also won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer.
