Soundarya is making the headlines as a social activist has filed a complaint in Andhra Pradesh's Khammam district against Mohan Babu allegedly accusing the veteran actor of murdering the Sooryavansham actress. The actress, who worked alongside Amitabh Bachchan died in a plane crash while she was on her way to Karimnagar in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh with her brother Amarnath to attend a campaign for BJP in April 2004. Over 20 years after her death, the activist has demanded the authorities for a thorough investigation into the events of her death. The activist has reportedly alleged that Mohan Babu and Soundarya were in the middle of a property dispute when the incident happened.

Who was Soundarya?

Before understanding the case, let's know who was Soundarya and her work profile. She primarily worked in Telugu cinema and was regarded as one of the greatest actresses in Tollywood. She has also worked in a few Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam films.

She was born in Mulabagilu, Kolar district on July 18, 1972. Her father was a Kannada film writer and producer. However, she established herself as the most popular Telugu actress of 1990. She made her debut with the 1993 Telugu movie Manavarali Pelli and is best known for her performances in movies Ammoru (1995), Pavitra Bandham (1996), Anthahpuram (1998), Raja (1999), Doni Saagali (1998), Dweepa (2002) and Apthamitra (2004).

She worked in only one Hindi film Sooryavansham, starring Amitabh Bachchan. In the movie, she played the role of Big B's wife Radha Thakur.

Who was Soundarya married to...

Soundarya got married to G. S. Raghu, a software engineer by profession, on April 27, 2003. It has been reported that at the time of her death, she was pregnant with her first child.

What do we know about Soundarya's death?

According to multiple media reports, on April 17, 2004, she boarded a single-engine Cessna 180 from Jakkur airstrip near Bengaluru, Karnataka. It was five minutes after the clock struck 11 AM, the plane burst into a flame and crashed. They were all charred to death. The aircraft crashed on the campus of the Gandhi Krishi Vigyan Kendra of the University of Agricultural Sciences, near Bengaluru.

What does the complaint allege?

Multiple media reports state that the complainant accused the 72-year-old actor of pressurising Soundarya and her brother to sell their six acres of land in a village situated in Shamshabad. However, they refused, leading to a major conflict between the two parties. It further alleged that after Soundarya's death, Mohan Babu took hold of the land.

It is yet to be known, how the activist is related to Kannada actress Soundarya.
