Amidst re-emergence of a pedophile, Police requests people residing in Vasai, Virar to not panic

Over the past 10 days, people residing in Vasai and Virar are being forced to live in the fear of a pedophile, who has raped a 13-year-old girl and attempted rape on another minor in the Nalasopara area

Over the past 10 days, people residing in Vasai and Virar are being forced to live in the fear of a pedophile, who has raped a 13-year-old girl and attempted rape on another minor in the Nalasopara area. It is believed that the accused, a serial rapist, uses very sharp and unique modus operandi to target the minor girls.

According to the Tulij police station, where the case of rape has been lodged, the offender takes the girls to isolated places on pretext of giving them a parcel on behalf of their father, before committing the brutal crime.

Offender targets girls of 8 to 13 years

Additional superintendent of Police, Vijaykant Sagar has stated that two cases have been registered in the Tulij police station so far and the accused targeted girls who are 8 to 13 years old. He further added that the offender's image had been captured in CCTV, and the victims have confirmed the same through the footages.

According to the police, the case in Nalasopara isn't the first by the offender. The accused had been active since the past year and a half. The suspected pedophile’s first victim was from Navi Mumbai region. After committing the heinous crime against minors in Navi Mumbai, he moved to Thane city.

In less than an year, he raped and molested at least 10 more girls. But following a manhunt launched by police against him, the accused went hiding, before becoming active in the Nalasopara region.

Massive search operation to nab the alleged rapist 

After the recent case of rape in Nalasopara, Maharashtra police launched a massive manhunt to arrest the pedophile. More than 10 teams have been formed to search the accused. Thousands of posters of the accused have been put up across the city. Police officials are visiting schools, residential complexes, chawls to spread the awareness. Police has also requested parents to not panic, and told them to be alert and inform the officials if they see him anywhere.
