Months ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections, NCP leader Sharad Pawar on Tuesday has met Congress President Sonia Gandhi at her residence. It is learnt that both the leaders have discussed the seat-sharing arrangement between Congress and NCP for the upcoming Maharashtra elections which are due in later this year.

CONG-NCP alliance for 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections

Both President Sonia Gandhi-led Indian National Congress and Nationalist Congress Party have made their minds on contesting the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly Elections together under a coalition. Both the parties also contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in an alliance.

According to the sources, Sharad Pawar has reportedly given a final shape to the seat-sharing arrangement between the Congress and NCP for the Maharashtra Assembly polls which are due to happen between October-November this year. The Election Commission is also expected to announce the poll dates soon. Moreover, a detailed discussion is said to continue for the next few days before the final tie-up plan is confirmed.

Over the past few weeks, the state leaders of Congress and NCP have met multiple times to discuss on the alliance. In the current Maharashtra assembly, Indian National Congress (INC) has the highest 36 seats in the opposition and Sharad Pawar led NCP has 32 seats.
