Maharashtra Elections: A group composes rap to spread voting awareness

'Mark Your Presence', a group led by Chaitanya Prabhu has composed raps to spread awareness about voting ahead of the Maharashtra election on October 21

The assembly election in Maharashtra is just a day away. To spread awareness about the importance of voting, a group led by Chaitanya Prabhu, founder of 'Mark Your Presence', has composed rap. The total strength of the Maharashtra Assembly is 288, out of which nine seats are reserved for the SC and five for the ST category. In total, Maharashtra has 8.94 crore registered voters, out of which 1.16 lakh are service voters. While the voting will take place in a single phase on October 21, the results will be declared on October 24.

'Pehla vote pehla pyaar' ( first vote, first love) 

To grab the attention of the people, the group came up with a captivating hook line for theri Rap ''Pehla vote, pehla Pyaar'. Speaking to ANI, the group said that, "In our songs, we focus on what the young generation is doing and why aren't they going to vote. We've made sure lyrics are apolitical and pertaining to the participation of young people in voting. All songs including 'pehla vote pehla Pyar'( first vote, first love) about one's first vote is close to us."

EC seizes cash in Maharashtra ahead of polls

There have been several instances of cash being seized in Maharashtra by EC. The poll officials seized Rs. 12.48 lakh from a car in Ulhasnagar in Maharashtra's Thane district late Tuesday night, said an official. The model code of conduct is in force across the State for the upcoming assembly polls. "The car's occupant could not give a satisfactory answer about the antecedents of the cash. It has been seized and kept at MFC police station in Kalyan," the official added.
