PM Modi extends best wishes to newly-appointed Goa CM Pramod Sawant and his team, says 'journey begins to fulfil dreams of people'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended best wishes to Dr Pramod Sawant, who took oath as the Chief Minister Goa on late Monday night. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi congratulated the newly-appointed Goa CM and his team as they are set to begin upon their new journey to fulfill the dreams of the people in the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended best wishes to Dr Pramod Sawant, who took oath as the Chief Minister Goa on late Monday night. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi congratulated the newly-appointed Goa CM and his team as they are set to begin upon their new journey to fulfill the dreams of the people in the state.

Asserting faith on Pramod Sawant and his team, PM Modi added, saying: I am sure they will build on the work done in the last few years and boost Goa’s growth trajectory'.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and BJP leader Pramod Sawant sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Goa in a late night (1:50 am) ceremony on Monday in the presence of Governor Mridula Sinha at Raj Bhavan.

Along with him, Sudin Dhavalikar of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and Vijay Sardesai of the Goa Forward Party took the oath as new Deputy Chief Ministers of the state. Furthermore, 11 other lawmakers, including Manohar Ajgaonkar of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and Vinod Palyekar of the Goa Forward Party sworn-in as the Cabinet ministers.

Speaking on the occasion, newly-appointed Goa CM Pramod Sawant said that the BJP party has given him a huge responsibility, assuring to try his best to carry it out in every possible manner.

"I have to provide stability & move ahead together with all allies. It'll be my responsibility to complete the incomplete works. I will not be able to work as much as Manohar Parrikar ji but I will definitely try to work as much as possible. Party has given me a huge responsibility, I will try my best to carry it out in the best possible manner. Whatever I am today is all due to Manohar Parrikar," Sawant said.

His appointment as the Goa CM came in after Manohar Parrikar's demise that took place on Sunday. The former Defence Minister was cremated  in Goa with state honours on Monday, in the presence of thousands who bid 'the affable politician' a fond farewell. BJP president Amit Shah, some Union ministers and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states attended the funeral at Miramar.
