Union Minister and Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being honoured with the ‘Global Goalkeeper Award’ by the Founder of Microsoft Corporation, Bill Gates. Amit Shah took to Twitter to express his gratitude and congratulate PM Modi. The award was conferred to PM Modi for India’s progress in the ‘Swacch Bharat Mission’ at New York on Wednesday (IST). While accepting the award, the PM said he shared the honour with crores of Indians who had contributed to the success of the cleanliness mission.

Amit Shah called this award a recognition of New India’s resolve for cleanliness under the leadership of PM Modi. He also stated that PM Modi's efforts and dedication towards this initiative has made cleanliness a virtue in India.

The significance of the 'Global Goalkeeper Award'

The Global Goals Awards are annual awards by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which are presented to leaders and individuals for their relentless efforts in achieving the universal Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as proposed by the United Nations. "These awards tell the extraordinary stories of remarkable individuals taking action to bring the Global Goals to life and help achieve them by 2030," read the foundation website for this year's awards. Prior to the Indian Prime Minister, the previous winners have been Prime Minister Erna Solberg of Norway and former President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Keynote Address At Global Business Forum

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the keynote address at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum (GBF) 2019 on Tuesday in New York. Post his address to the forum, PM Modi will also indulge in a conversation with Michael R. Bloomberg, former mayor of New York City. The conversation will focus on opportunities to strengthen global economic stability, tackle climate change, promote economic growth and advanced technologies that can improve society.
