Amit Shah releases Lata Mangeshkar portrait book on her B'day eve

Union Home Minister Amit Shah released a compilation of portraits of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on the eve of her 90th birthday on Friday

Union Home Minister Amit Shah released a compilation of portraits of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on the eve of her 90th birthday on Friday. The portraits were sourced from the archives of Gautam Rajadhyaksha and were released in the presence of her sister Usha Mangeshkar.

'Delighted to release a compilation of portraits of Lata Didi from the archives of Gautam Rajadhyaksha on the eve of her birthday. May God bless Lata didi with a long and healthy life. Lata Mangeshkar," Shah tweeted.

Lata Mangeshkar's achievements 

The legendary playback singer and occasional music composer Lata Mangeshkar is one of the best-known and most respected playback singers in the country who started her career in 1942. In a career of over seven decades she has received the National Film Awards three times along with four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards and many more.

Her famous song  'Lag Ja Gale Se' has been recorded for over a thousand Hindi films and sung in over 36 regional Indian languages and foreign languages. She is also the second vocalist, after late Indian singer M. S. Subbulakshmi, to have ever been awarded the Bharat Ratna.

Lata Mangeshkar wishes Yash Chopra

Today, the film fraternity celebrates Yash Chopra's 87th birthday. Lata Mangeshkar also paid tribute to her late director-producer. In her tweet, she addressed him as her brother she also shared a track titled Tu Mere Saamne from the Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla-starrer Darr, which she had sung in the Yash Chopra directorial venture.
