Bihar CM Nitish Kumar lauds ISRO's efforts; says, "We are proud"

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has commended ISRO scientists over the Chandrayaan-2 mission and has expressed his solidarity with them after contact was lost with Vikram

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has commended the efforts of ISRO scientists over the Chandrayaan-2 mission and has expressed his solidarity with them following contact being lost with the Vikram lander just 2.1 km from the lunar surface at its south pole region. The JD(U) chief said the entire nation is proud of ISRO and its achievements. Chandrayaan-2, which is the second lunar exploration mission by the ISRO, was launched on July 22, 2019 and reached the Moon's orbit on August 20, 2019. 

Nitish Kumar Praises ISRO

Nitish Kumar praised the efforts and showed solidarity with the ISRO team by saying, "We are proud of their (scientists) efforts for significant achievement. The entire nation appreciates the efforts of scientists at ISRO and stands with you." Kumar, in an official release said that the Indian scientists should not be disheartened, and showed confidence in them. Kumar said, "We are quite confident that our scientists will keep their energy and enthusiasm and will move ahead to achieve our goal." He also highlighted the fact that the Vikram lander was still orbiting the Moon and shall collect useful data for ISRO's further endeveaours. "Information gathered from Chandrayaan-2 mission will help future scientific endeavors," the Bihar CM added.

Nation Stands With ISRO

The entire nation showed exptreme support for ISRO and applauded their efforts of exploring the south pole of the lunar surface which has never been explored before. Netizens flooded Twitter with applause and praise for the space agency whereas several top leaders also took to social media to congratulate ISRO. President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and Subramanian Swamy also praised ISRO and congratulated the space agency for reaching as close as it could. Sports icons Virat Kohli and Virender Sehwag also tweeted their support and also saluted the spirit of scientists.

Earlier on Saturday, PM Modi in his address to the ISRO team and the nation from Bengaluru reassured the team of ISRO scientists and asked them to not get disheartened even after minor setbacks suffered in the Moon mission. Vikram lander of Chandrayaan-2 lost communication with groundstation just 2.1km away from touchdown. However, the orbiter still continues to orbit around the lunar body and is expected to retrieve important analysis and information.
