BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana in Delhi has alleged that there is a huge scam in the Ladli Yojna scheme of the Delhi Government. He claimed that crores of rupees have been siphoned off either by the Delhi Government ministers or by the government officials following the instructions of the Aam Aadmi Party. To prove his claim he said that he recently filed an RTI to know the exact number of the beneficiaries but the reply was shocking.

"I asked them to tell year-by-year data of the people who applied for the Ladli Yojna and about the beneficiaries. I was shocked to see the reply as they showed that the actual beneficiaries were more than four to five times than the actual applicants," said Khurana.

The RTI report

The reply of the RTI reveals that in the year 2015-16 there were 8,321 people who applied for the Ladli Yojana while the benefited cases were around 40,703 which is more than five times than of the people who applied under this Yojana. The reply further shows that in the year 2016-17, 9,122 people applied under Ladli Yojana while the beneficiaries were 37,751. In Delhi, the number of beneficiaries is more than four times.

In the year 2017-18, the people who applied for this Yojana were 9,084 while people who got benefits in this Yojna were 34,257. In the year 2018-19, only 8,021 people applied for Ladli Yojna and 24,768 were given benefit which is three times more than the actual applicants. Till April 2019 around 319 people have applied and here too the number of beneficiaries are 677 which is almost double.

BJP wants to lodge an FIR

The BJP now wants to lodge an FIR in this matter.

"Around Rs 255 crore has been given to people under Ladli Yojana by the Delhi Government. But there are ghost people too who were benefited while they never applied. Who are these people and who gave them benefit? This is a huge scam, I will lodge an FIR and will name Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as an accused in the case," said Khurana.

He said that he was taking legal opinion in this matter by his lawyer to decide his exact future course of action. He further indicated that he will lodge a complaint at various places such as Delhi Police, Anti Corruption Bureau and with the CBI.

Ladli Yojana

Ladli Yojana was first implemented in Madhya Pradesh in 2007 by the BJP government. A year later in 2008, it was implemented in Delhi by the Sheila Dikshit government. This Yojana is for the empowerment of the girl child. Money is given to the parents of the girls on various stages to promote girls.
