A shocking video has gone viral on the Internet showing an elderly man cleverly stealing plant pots form a vertical garden in the capital, leaving netizens enraged. The man was caught stealing the plastic containers from the vertical garden on pillars of a flyover by a passerby. A netizen filmed the entire incident, in which the elderly man can be seen stealing and then running away.

Elderly man caught stealing public property

The video was originally uploaded on the Facebook page ‘Alwayz Dil Se’ on October 10, and was later shared on Twitter. In the video, the man dressed in formals can be seen throwing away the mud along with the plants out of the pots and cleverly shoving them inside his bag pack. As soon as the passer-by calls the man out, the elderly man notices that he is being filmed and quickly runs away.

The thief apologises

In a follow-up video, shot again by Facebook user Dikshit Sharma, who captured the original viral clip of the man stealing plastic pots from the vertical garden, shows the elderly man apologising for the act and promising to return the pots.

However, this is not the first time such an incident has taken place - there are previous reports of people stealing plants from the vertical garden, leaving empty pots behind.

The New Delhi Municipal Corporation initiated the planting plan and installed the vertical gardens across the city to deal with the pollution and to improve the air quality. The initiative was also taken to beautify the city simultaneously. Though this viral video does not ascertain the identity of the person or the location, enraged netizens have been seeking Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s intervention over the matter.
