Supporting the Prime Minister's move to ban all single-use plastics, Biocon chairperson Kiran Mazumdar Shaw on Friday, has requested PM Narendra Modi to ban flex banners as a part of the nationwide plastic ban. She states that the banners pollute in every way. During his Independence Day address, PM Modi had declared the ban of single-use plastics from October 2, marking Gandhi Jayanti. This is a part of the Prime Minister's 'Swachh Bharat' mission.

Mahindra boardrooms go plastic-free

In a similar vein, Mahindra CEO Anand Mahindra too made good on his promise to ban plastic bottles from Mahindra meeting rooms on Thursday. He tweeted photos of the in-house re-fillable bottles developed by ‘Mahindra retail synergies group’. Previously in July, Mahindra was pointed by a Twitter user the number of plastic bottles present in the boardroom, suggesting that steel bottles would a better eco-friendly option. Mahindra had immediately taken note of the eco-hazard and declared a ban on plastic bottles in his boardrooms.

PM Modi helps plastic rag pickers, declares war on plastics

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, stepped into the shoes of the ragpickers who segregate plastic from trash on a daily basis in Mathura. PM Modi was in Mathura for the inauguration of National Animal Disease Control Programme. He had also promoted the Anti-Plastic drive at the UNCCD-COP 14 summit in Greater Noida on Tuesday. Visuals shared by the Prime Minister show him sitting down on a brown crate with a few women ragpickers. PM Modi was seen interacting with the women and he also got engaged in segregating plastic from the garbage. This was done to send out a message across the nation to put an end to the use of single-use plastic.
